Story
The founder of Moonfloweraudio needed to listen to a series of online tutorials. He needed to work through these tutorials for the next two weeks. He had a laptop computer, but had never listened to audio on it. At that time, he was in a small town, so he walked into a newsagent and bought a pair of earphones. The earphones did the job he needed them for. But the founder knew about good sound reproduction—he knew the earphones were not good, so never used them again.
Two seasons later, the founder of Moonfloweraudio was stood in the centre of a city. He needed to find earphones in the next three minutes. If he didn’t find any, the sky would not fall on his head, but his afternoon would be different.
So he walked into a gadget shop and, again, bought a pair of earphones. He knew the earphones were not good, but he said to himself, “They are available”. The earphones worked, the rain fell, it was a quiet afternoon.
It occurred to the founder that most people know sound. Like they can taste wine or appreciate a football match—even if it is not their interest. And that most people know the features they need and the price they want to pay. But the world of electronic gadgetry is muddled, overwhelming, and riddled with (often meaningless) specifications. So the founder started to think about the kinds of earphones available—earphones that he would have liked to buy. That was the beginning of Moonfloweraudio.
